Also referred to as an insulation shield, it protects combustible materials when a chimney passes through an attic. It is imperative that it be installed overside from the attic. Its cone shape keeps insulation from seeping between the outer casing and the firestop. It also maintains a 2'' clearance from combustible materials. A firestop (BF) is not needed when a support is used directly below. Insulated to prevent cold air intrusion. Storm collar included.
